Machining Video: Welding Robots Demonstration of CO2 Arc Welding, Arc Pulsation Welding and TIG Welding for Steel Tube Notching

First of all, let's define Robotic Welding. This means automatic welding using a robot that can be pre-programmed to different welding paths and fabrication geometries. Simple, yes.

This video is a depiction of one of our CO2 welding machines demonstrating the different ways you can use it to achieve different outcomes when welding. The arc welding process, abbreviated MIG - metal inert gas welding, or MAG - metal active gas welding, is the one mainly used for our applications. The consumable welding wire is fed by a motor. At the same time a nozzle above the weld discharges the gas required, to prevent the molten metal beneath the arc from oxidizing.

Using different compositions of gas (pure CO2 or gas mixture Argon + CO2) the welding process can be actively affected and adapted according to material. Roughly speaking one can say that the MAG process is used for steel and the MIG process for nonferrous metals.

For these types of arc welding our robot can be equipped with the most diverse welding torches for single wire or twin/tandem wire.

Furthermore, the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding process developed by Advanced Machinery is already being used on our robot system. Controlled droplet detachment with little heat input is facilitated by the pulsation of the welding current. With TIG the filler wire runs with a fast forward and backward movement.
