Steel Plate Countersink Holes Cut on Raycut Fiber Laser Cutting Machine by Off-Focus Melt and Blow
Countersink holes can be cut on a steel plate using a Raycut Fiber laser cutting machine through a process known as "off-focus melt and blow." This technique involves intentionally adjusting the focus of the laser beam to achieve specific results.
Here's a general overview of how the process works:
Material Preparation: The steel plate is prepared by ensuring it is clean and securely fixed onto the cutting machine's work table.
Laser Setup: The Raycut Fiber laser cutting machine is set up according to the desired parameters, such as laser power, cutting speed, and gas pressure. The appropriate lens is installed based on the desired focus point for the process.
Off-Focus Adjustment: In the case of countersink hole cutting, the laser focus is intentionally adjusted to be slightly above the material surface. This causes the laser beam to interact with the material in a specific way, resulting in a melt and blow effect.
Cutting Process: The laser beam is directed onto the steel plate surface, slightly above the intended countersink hole location. The off-focus beam melts the material, creating a small molten pool.
Assist Gas Flow: Simultaneously, assist gas, typically compressed air or nitrogen, is directed at high pressure onto the molten pool. This gas stream blows away the molten material, creating a cavity or countersink hole with a conical shape.
Controlling Parameters: The cutting parameters, such as laser power, cutting speed, assist gas pressure, and standoff distance, need to be optimized to achieve the desired countersink hole dimensions and quality. Iterative adjustments may be required to achieve the desired results.
Post-Processing: Once the countersink holes are cut, the steel plate may require further processing, such as deburring or surface finishing, to achieve the desired final appearance and functionality.
It's important to note that specific machine settings and parameters may vary depending on the Raycut Fiber laser cutting machine model, material thickness, and the required countersink hole specifications. Always refer to the machine manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations for optimal results.
